Icon of the Seas: Roatán Honduras Arrival & Departure on May 13th, 2024

On May 11th the Icon of the Seas set sail on a 7 night Western Caribbean and Perfect Day in CocoCay sailing. Sailing round trip from Miami she made stops in Roatán Honduras, Costa Maya Mexico, and Cozumel Mexico as well as the addition of CocoCay in the Bahamas. The Icon of the Seas started to approach the island of Roatan at 7:30 AM on May 13th. As passengers awoke that morning their cabins were filled with the smell of fire and stepping out on deck was even worse. Wildfires cast the entire region in thick smoke that created poor air conditions resulting in a bright red sun and low visibility around the ship. The pilot was picked up at 8:00 AM before arriving to the port at 8:30 AM. After the Icon of the Seas the MSC Magnifica arrived docking at the adjacent pier. The smoke conditions then cleared as the morning went on. The Icon of the Seas was the first ship to leave at 6PM setting sail back in the direction she came from once again under a red sun.
