Icon of the Seas: Surfside Tour (4k)
YouTube Video Descriptionβ
On the Icon of the Seas you may get caught up in comparing neighborhoods to their Oasis class counterparts, but with Surfside that can't be done. This entirely new neighborhood replaces the Boardwalk area from the previous class. Located a deck higher than the Boardwalk, on deck 7, this large venue is accessible from three different entrances. When exiting the Royal Promenade's second level on deck 6 you can access a staircase from the elevator lobby that leads up into the venue. From deck 7 you can access the venue directly from the elevator lobby to avoid stairs. The third way is from deck 8 where you can exist Central Park and walk right across the elevator lobby and out doors to a staircase that leads down to the venue. This area is Themed to feel like a kids version of the California seafront. This means that is has a much more vibrant color scheme, tropical feel, and kid focus than the previous boardwalk area that was designed after locations in the northeast of the US. Within the Surfside area you'll find a variety of venues, the majority of which are entirely new to the Royal Caribbean fleet. The starboard side features a variety of complimentary dining venues starting with the Surfside Eatery. This large complimentary venue is the first family focused buffet serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner it features a variety of options to designed to appeal to kids while still having enough variety for the adults. With a smaller footprint their are still plenty of options while making it a great alternative to the crowds of the Windjammer located 7 decks above it. Right next to it is Surfside Bites featuring a variety of grab and go options including hamburgers, hot dogs, and churros. The next location is a new Sprinkles spot offering complimentary softserve ice cream. At the very end of the starboard side is the brand new Lemon Post bar, the first family focused bar in the fleet with a variety of new non-alcoholic and kid focused premium drinks. The very end of the Surfside neighborhood isn't an AquaTheater, instead it's a relocated Splashaway Bay. This huge kids water play area is featured on many of the ships built over the last 25 years, but on Icon for the first time it's relocated to a location away from the top deck. This gives it more shelter from the winds while sailing as well as the sun. Directly behind it are two additional areas for the younger and older. Baby Bay offers infants and toddlers a splash area to play in the water while Water's Edge is a pool that allows families to spend some time swimming together as well as parent's a place to take a dip while the kids are playing near by. The port side then features Pier 7, a brand new family focused table service venue where kids can eat for free with a paying adult. There is a Playscape area offering a dry playground for kids along with the return of the carousel, but this time as a nautical focused kids carousel. Sugar Beach returns with a large variety of for fee candy along with family cooking classes like cupcake decorating. The final venue in the Surfside area is the Arcade offering a variety of new and old arcade games for a fee. The Surfside neighborhood exists on all of the Icon class ships including Icon of the Seas, Star of the Seas, & Legend of the Seas. This video was filmed between May 4th and 18th 2024.
