Independence of the Seas: 2012 Transatlantic Day 3 - At Sea: Afternoon Outside

On Saturday November 24th 2012 the Independence of the Seas passed though the notorious Bay of Biscay. Living up to it's reputation at 3am the ship was met with 50 foot sustained waves with peaks exceeding 60 feet and winds in excess of 100 knots. By morning things had settled down to comparably calm waves of just 25 feet. Still significantly larger than usual and winds too severe to use the outside decks. By the afternoon the conditions began to settle down and when combined with the ship being able to turn into the winds the outside decks were able to open again. By this time the seas were settling down and the winds had given way to an eery calmness.
