MORE POSITIVE CRUISE NEWS: CRUISING HAS RESTARTED!!! Royal Caribbean Group CEO, Richard Fain, addressed cruise enthusiasts in this latest video with some hopeful and encouraging cruise news and updates. Subscribe to the Eat Sleep Cruise YouTube Channel if you love to travel and cruise the world! https://www.youtube.com/c/EatSleepCru... He stated that the Royal Caribbean Group has carried over 100,000 cruise guests on over 150 cruises during the pandemic. Out of 100,000 guests only 10 have tested positive for COVID-19, and these cases were handled swiftly. This proves that the health and safety protocols in place are working. Further, the cruise industry as a whole has carried more than 350,000 cruise passengers without any major incidents. This is great cruise news! Fain states that vaccines are a gamechanger, as well as advancements in testing procedures and contact tracing on the ships, making the cruise experience "safer than your home community". These successful experiences are making it possible to restart cruises in more and more places around the world. Thus far, Royal Caribbean announced Odyssey of the Seas sailings from Israel to Cyprus and Greece and Adventure of the Seas from the Bahamas to Perfect Day at CocoCay. Sister brand, Celebrity Cruises, also recently announced sailings from St. Maarten on Celebrity Millennium to the Caribbean. All of these cruises will require all guests over 18 years of age to be vaccinated as well as all crew to be vaccinated. The CEO indicates that there could soon be further announcements for the resumption of cruising. Fain also addresses frequently asked questions in this cruise news update. The most common question is, "Will vaccines be required to cruise?". His response was, "We don't know". So far, 3 cruises from Royal Caribbean Group will require vaccines, and it is likely that there will be more. As the pandemic situation continues to change, the cruise industry will use science as guide. The next question addressed in this cruise update was, "When will the CDC's technical rules be issued?". Fain indicates that when the Conditional Sail Order was issued, society was in a very different place. There were no vaccines, COVID testing was less available, etc. He believes that the pace of science has overcome that process. Society is beginning to open up. He admits that he doesn't know what the CDC is contemplating to address the new environment, but he believes the progress with vaccines will make the Conditional Sail Order a thing of the past. Fain also indicates that it takes months to reactivate a ship, so the cruise lines need to start planning now for summer sailings. His goal is in line with President Biden's goal of having society open again in time for the 4th of July. This means we could be cruising from the United States again in July!!!
