Marella Discovery 2 Loses Power... and we're stuck in port!

The generator powering key equipment like toilets, lighting and soda pumps onboard Marella Discovery 2 breaks down whilst docked in Souda. It's now a race against time to get her back up and running before our scheduled departure, or we risk missing out on our next port of call. Can the team get the power restored? Or will they end up making a Netflix documentary about us? #marellacruises #cruisevlog #cruiselife /// Day 5: Souda - Sunshine, Power Loss and Delays Everywhere Before the power shenanigans began, it was a lovely start to our time in Souda. Taking it easy whilst most passengers disembarked, we opted to get off a little later and take the local transport down to Chania. From there, it was time to walk through their historic and busy port, soaking up the local cuisine, sunshine and lighthouse. Once we arrived back onboard Marella Discovery 2, we were greeted by power issues. Toilets not flushing, lights not working... oh dear. After a while, the power was restored, but that did mean a delayed departure from Souda to make sure everything was ok. How late? Well late enough to delay our arrival into Marmaris tomorrow. We laughed the night away with some live music from Daria in the Squid & Anchor, before being turned away from every restaurant. It wasn't long before we were off and exploring the beautiful port; their large marina area where you dock. followed by a quest to find the desired fountain. Unfortunately, this was a bit of a let down, but nice none the less. It wasn't too long before our stomachs led us back to Marella Discovery 2's Snack Shack. Although, not wanting to eat too much in the hope of a restaurant placement this evening, we skipped the poolside BBQ. After unknowingly, and failing, the Toughest Quiz of the Cruise, it was time for another delayed sailaway. However this time, it wasn't the power holding us up, but late excursions coming back. We were soon underway and lucky enough to get a table at Gallery 47, before some entertainment from the crew and a Coldplay performance. A lovely evening rounded off with the delivery of our disembarkation information.
