Med Cruise P4 Sun Princess. Barcelona, Santa Maria de Monteserrat and the Black Madonna.

Today we visit Monteserrat while in the port of Barcelona. We booked this excursion through Princess Cruises during our Mediterranean cruise aboard the Sun Princess. Santa Maria de Montserrat is an abbey of the order of Saint Benedict which is located on the mountain of Montserrat in Monistrol de Montserrat, Catalonia, Spain. It's about a 3 hr ride from Barcelona. We first stopped at the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia for a self guided tour around the church then off to Monteserrat. We wanted to do something different than we've seen on videos and this place has it all. Amazing mountain views, beautiful Cathedral with amazing architecture and we always love visiting sites where we can learn the history of a port.
