Don’t worry if you are not up to date, we have you covered with our latest video covering all the major cruise updates through July 26th! If you enjoy the video, please make sure to give it a BIG THUMBS UP! Royal Caribbean Group announced that it will replace its not-so-popular, yet important, muster drill with the new Muster 2.0. Cruisers will now be able to review information on their smartphone device or in-cabin stateroom and complete the drill by checking-in with a crew member. Good bye to those drawn out, crowded muster stations! Carnival Cruise Line confirmed this past week that it sold both Carnival Fantasy and Carnival Inspiration. These ships will be heading to the scrap yards in Turkey. In addition, the cruise line also announced that Carnival Fascination and Carnival Imagination would move to a long term lay-up status, so the cruise line can focus on newer ships. With these announcements, the cruise line also made a series of cruise updates and schedule changes and deployments. It did reaffirm that the second Excel-class ship would launch in Fall 2022. The newly renovated Carnival Radiance is expected in Long Beach, CA in April 2021, where it will replace sailings after that date originally scheduled for Carnival Imagination and Inspiration. Princess Cruises made some big cruise news this past week as well, delaying the start of cruising in most regions of the world until December 15, 2020. Further, it delayed the start of the cruise season in Australia until November 1st. Now, Princes Cruises is the first major cruise line to cancel cruises through the fall of 2020. Americans also received further travel restrictions this past week, as the Bahamas banned U.S. citizens from visiting the country starting on July 22nd. The rising number of COVID-19 cases in the U.S. was the main driver behind the Prime Minister’s difficult decision to close the border to visitors from the Unites States. With some positive cruise news, Viking announced the details of its upcoming 2021-2022 world cruise. This 136-day cruise will set sail on December 24, 2021 from Fort Lauderdale. The itinerary will include 7 countries and 56 ports, with overnight stays in 11 iconic cities. This once in a lifetime cruise starts at $49,995 per person. In other sad news, another cruise line had to close up shop. The privately owned Cruise and Maritime Voyages (CMV) cruise line announced that it was ceasing operations. The cruise line owned six ships and catered mostly to passengers from the United Kingdom.
