Holland America's Nieuw Statendam, the second of it's Pinnacle Class ships is have a season in the UK in 2025, being home based in Dover. As part of CLIA, we were invited to spend 5 hours on her, as she docked in Dover for the day. In our Nieuw Statendam Tour we take you around the ship, from the very top at the Crows Nest, down to the Retreat, Sports Deck, Pool Deck, Buffet, Main Dining Rooms, Club Orange and the music walk, including BB Kings Blues Club, Rolling Stone Lounge & Billboard Bar, as well as The Casino, World Stage and speciality dining venues. This was a hosted visit, which we did not pay to board the ship for the day. Holland America Nieuw Statendam Nieuw Statendam was launched in 2018 and was the 2nd in the Pinnacle class of ship, which is also the same class of Ship Cunard's new Queen Anne is based on. Here are some of its features: Pinnacle-Class: The Nieuw Statendam is a Pinnacle-class cruise ship operated by Holland America Line (HAL), a division of Carnival Corporation & plc. She’s the second of three Pinnacle-class ships built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, following the Koningsdam (2016) and preceding the Rotterdam (2021)1. Design Inspiration: Her design draws inspiration from the elegant curves of musical instruments. Fluid lines and dramatic spaces make her a modern beauty on the high seas2. Impressive Dimensions: The Nieuw Statendam boasts a length of 299.75 meters (983 feet), a draft of 8 meters (26 feet), and a beam of 35 meters (114 feet 10 inches). She can accommodate up to 2,666 guests in well-appointed suites and staterooms13. Powerful Propulsion: Powered by a diesel-electric genset system, she features four MaK engines, each producing 12.6 MW (16,900 hp), resulting in a total output of 50.4 megawatts (67,600 hp). Her main propulsion comes from two ABB Azipods, each driven by a 14 megawatts (19,000 hp) electric motor.
