The sixth day of our cruise to the Norwegian Fjords aboard the Cunard cruise liner MS "Queen Victoria" from Friday 13th to Saturday 21st July 2012. On Wednesday 18th July, we made third and final anchor stop at the village of Olden situated at the end of the Nordfjord. This was also our penultimate Port of Call. Just as with Flam, Olden has only one berth for cruise ships and today it was taken by P&O Cruises's "Azura" so "Queen Victoria" had to anchor. The two ships were later joined by a much smaller cruise ship called "Caledonian Sky". The main shore excursion from Olden goes to the famous Briksdal Glacier roughly 1 hour's coach drive away. At the Park where the glacier is, there is a long twisty and steep path leading up to it. Here you have the choice of walking (which unless you're extremely tough, I wouldn't reccomend) or by going in one of the many Troll Cars that they have there. Wisely, we chose the Troll Car, although the Troll Cars don't go ALL the way to the glacier and the final 500 metres DO have to be covered by foot. Due to the Glacier having decresed over the past number of years, the nearest anyone could get to it was in small boats, but our tour did not have the time for these. Later, we returned to Olden just as "Azura" was departing. We had to wait for her to clear the Berth area before any of "Queen Victoria's" tenders could come in and collect us. A short while later, we arrived back on board, and a short time after that, we departed Olden and headed back down the Nordfjord to the open sea again, heading for our final port at Bergen.
