Singapore Walking Tour 2019
YouTube Video Descriptionβ
Before the global pandemic I had the opportunity to travel to Singapore. My ultimate goal on this trip was to travel to Malaysia and Thailand via Cruise ship. But before I got to board the cruise ship, I enjoyed two days in the port city/ State of Singapore. Our flight out of San Francisco took us 16 and a half hours to cross the Pacific Ocean. Upon arrival we quickly gathered our bags and headed towards the MRT. This is a fantastic way to get around the city. Unlike most cities the subway in Singapore is extremely clean and safe. We took the MRT to the Four Points Hotel which was where we would rest for two nights. Upon the sun rising in the morning, we headed down and had breakfast at the hotel before venturing out to explore the city. After leaving the hotel we made our way to Chinatown. While in Chinatown we stopped for lunch at the Peoples Park Hawker Center. This is an incredibly affording and yet delicious place to get a bit to eat. After lunch we headed to the Sri Mariamman Temple. We walked around and took all the sights of a modern Hindu temple. After visiting the temple, we headed over to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. At this temple we got to see all the artifacts and learn some of the interesting history of Buddha. In the evening I wanted to venture down to the Marina Bay Sands area. This is one of the most intriguing hotels in all of Singapore. Not only is there the Marina Bay Sands Hotel here but there is also the famous Merlion Statue. The next morning, we would get up and depart from the Marina Bay Sands Cruise Terminal onboard Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Sea's. After the five-night cruise, we returned to the beautiful city/ state of Singapore. We took the trustworthy MRT to Little India. In little India we would stay the night at the Hilton Garden Inn. It was a little early for check in when we arrived, but this would give us the opportunity to explore the area more Indepth. Unfortunately, it was raining when we arrived, so we found a local mall to explore. The City Square Mall was a sign to behold. Most of the mall was built below ground level. While the building was massive there was something to capture the interest of everyone. After exploring a bit, it was time to check in at the hotel. After Check in we made our way back to the Marina Bay Sands area to explore the world-renowned Gardens by the Bay. As we were in Singapore in December, it was Christmas season, and they had the entire area decorated for the upcoming holiday. One of my favorite areas of Gardens by the Bay had to be the Cloud Walk. Heights is not necessarily my comfort level, but it was well worth the view. At this time, it was time to call it a night because in the morning we had to make our way back to the United States. The following morning, we got up early and made our way to the closest MRT station. We took the line that went directly to the airport. We arrived at Singapore Changi Airport with enough time to spare to stretch our legs and being our journey back home.
