This video shares the cruise essentials we take on every trip. Regardless of the cabin category, we always take magnetic hooks as the cabin walls are metal. These hooks allow us to hang items like hats, bags, and wet clothes. Along with hooks, a lightweight over-the-door shore organizer is a cruise essential. You should bring this on a cruise for storing toiletries, small accessories, technology, jewelry, and other items. Other musts you should pack on a cruise include a water bottle and a day bag. These come in handy when going ashore. Other items like Ziploc bags and drybags allow you to keep items dry and store them safely when on the ship or at a port of call. Of course, towel clips also come in handy when lounging on the pool deck or at the beach. Regardless of the itinerary, other items on our cruise essentials packing list include all necessary medications and cash. We are often surprised by how many individuals fail to bring small bills or adequate money on a cruise. Similarly, items like a bathing suit and suntan lotion are essential regardless of the destination--even in regions like Alaska. Many ships have indoor pools, and you can still get sunburned. Regarding what to wear on a cruise, cruise essentials include some extra layers, as you might be cold on the ship or during an excursion. Plus, we always recommend at least one formal outfit. Getting dressed up and taking a few photos at least once is part of the fun of a cruise. If you are like us, and cruise packing means you max out your suitcase, a luggage scale is also recommended. This inexpensive tool has helped us avoid airline baggage fees when flying for a cruise. Nowadays, all cruisers take several devices with them on a cruise. So, when it comes to cruise essentials, we always pack extra power cords and adapters for our cell phones, computers, and camera. Not to mention, a cruise-approved power adapter is a necessity as there are usually few outlets in cruise cabins. Additionally, portable power banks are also a lifesaver when you need to charge items ashore, in foreign countries, or merely walking around the ship.
