The 'CATHEDRAL'S EXPRESS' with No.70000 "Britannia" - 31/08/2011
YouTube Video Descriptionβ
Salisbury saw two main line steam excursions at its station platforms withint the space of a few minutes. The second of these was LNER A4-class 4-6-2 No.60019 "Bittern" (running as No.4492 "Dominion of New Zealand") at the head of the return 'Bath Spa Express' from Bristol and Bath to Poole. A few minutes before "DoNZ" arrived, the main platform at Salisbury played host to the departure of the return 'Steam Dreams' 'Cathedral's Express' that had come down that morning from Southend. BR 'Britannia'-class 4-6-2 No.70000 "Britannia" was in charge of this train. Here we see "Britannia" first shunting the carriages into the platform before waiting to pick-up its passengers before finally departing for Southend. "DoNZ" then arrived only minutes after "Britannia" had gone (see seperate video).
