this is one of my very first cruises back in 1983 and I would be on the Royal Caribbean's of one year old ship a song of America
they always say you never forget first girl I fell in love with the same is true for this ship
the song of America had a weight of 37,000 tons and held 1575 passengers this was massive back in the day
I thought I had died to heaven these itineraries combined with travel on this new ship made a vacation that I talked about for years to come

This was my first cruise in 1983 on Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s brand new ship, The Song of America. This ship was state of the art back then and held just over 1,500 passengers, which was quite large for the time. The video quality back then was not the best but it gives you a good idea of what the ship looked like compared to what they are like today. The ship is now 38 years old and is still in service roaming the Greek Islands for a different company. During this cruise we sailed to Bahamas, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas US Virgin Islands, which was its normal 7-day cruise route for many years, sailing out of the Port of Miami.
