Time lapse: bad weather approaches cruise ship, dome is closed over pool
YouTube Video Descriptionβ
While docked at the island of Guadeloupe, bad weather moved in on the Viking Star cruise ship. About 1:50 in to this timelapse video, you'll see the glass dome over the swimming pool is closed to protect the passengers from the rain. You'll also see passengers doing a few laps in the pool, and then quickly getting out. Few people get in the pool at all, and those that do don't stay very long. That's because of a mistake made by the people that designed this ship: the made the pool too deep! At nearly six feet deep, people can't stand up in the pool and keep their head above water. So, they either have to swim laps, tread water, or cling to the sides of the pool. No one stays in for very long. Note to those who design cruise ships: don't make the pools too deep to stand up in... or at least give the pool a shallow end where people can stand with their head above water!
