Tobermory, Lighthouse Walk and Eilean Dubh with The Majestic Line Glen Massan

Join me for a full day of Hebridean exploration on my Majestic Line cruise on Glen Massan. We began with a half day visit to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. After docking in the harbour it was only a short stroll into town where the colourful waterfront looked as striking as ever. I spent the morning wandering the quiet lanes, enjoying the peaceful harbour views and taking the gentle coastal walk out to the lighthouse. The path is easy to follow with woodland stretches and lovely sea views as you approach the lighthouse itself. We returned on board Glen Massan in time for a delicious lunch served while sailing down the Firth of Mull. The scenery along this stretch is wide and open and it became even more memorable when a group of playful dolphins surrounded the ship. They stayed with us for a while jumping out of the water and swimming alongside which was a wonderful sight. Later in the afternoon we dropped anchor near Eilean Dubh. At lower tide the water here is shallow enough that you can walk across what looks like a thin strip of water between the two islands. It feels completely surreal and the views are peaceful and atmospheric with clear water and quiet beaches all around. It is a remote and beautiful stop and a perfect example of what small vessel cruising offers. Sadly the next morning it was time to disembark. Disembarkation on such a small ship is very relaxed and guests are treated to a wholesome breakfast as the vessel docks back in Oban. After leaving Glen Massan I was lucky to have a little tour of her sister ship Glen Shiel. She has a different layout with more modern features and a slightly sleeker feel while still keeping the warmth and character that the Majestic Line is known for. An absolutely fantastic trip and one I would book again in a heartbeat. I highly recommend it.
