If you're looking for the best things to do in Vilnius or building a Baltic itinerary, this city is absolutely one of Europe's hidden gems! We start our journey walking down Gediminas Avenue which is the main street in the city lined with fantastic restaurants and shops. After checking out LukiΕ‘kΔ—s Square and taking a stroll along the Neris River we went inside Vilnius Cathedral which is easily one of the top sights in the city. We also decided to climb to the top of the famous Bell Tower and it turned out to be one of the absolute best things we did on our Vilnius city break! To get a real feel for the local history we explored the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania and the Presidential Palace. We also made sure to visit the Republic of UΕΎupis which is a fascinating bohemian micronation that declared itself an independent state complete with its own flag and constitution. For something completely unique we grabbed a coffee at the Cat CafΓ© KačiΕ³ KavinΔ— surrounded by cute rescue cats. It's a must for animal lovers! We also enjoyed a relaxing walk through the beautiful Bernardine Gardens before heading into the stunning Vilnius Old Town. We spent plenty of time exploring the cobbled streets and seeing sights like St. Anne's Church, the Gate of Dawn, Signatories House and Town Hall Square. Our final stop was Gediminas Hill where we took the funicular to the top for breath-taking panoramic views over Vilnius. We also ventured inside Gediminas Tower which is one of the most important historical sights in the capital and offers unbelievable views over the river.
