We sailed on Holland America Line’s Nieuw Amsterdam cruise ship in March 2022 for a 7-day sailing of the Southern Caribbean, visiting Half Moon Cay (Bahamas), Curacao, and Aruba during our trip. So what did we think of embarkation day on our first ever Holland America sailing? Find out in this boarding video. Delivered in 2009 and refurbished in 2017, the Nieuw Amsterdam is a cozy midsize vessel that offers a variety of activities to keep you busy while onboard, with 11 public decks, two pools, and an entertaining Music Walk on Deck 2. The Lido Market offers a nice assortment of quality buffet fare, the Main Dining Room at times matched the food found on ultra-luxury lines, and it contains a number of bars that offer a great place to have a beer, wine, or cocktail. If you are thinking about taking an Alaska cruise, you may want to take one on Holland America, perhaps a small ship like the Nieuw Amsterdam.
