Great Britain was an ocean liner built in Bristol for the Great Western Steamship Co. The ship was launched in 1843 and made her maiden voyage in 1845. The ship was a revolutionary design. An ocean liner, it had a single screw propeller (rather than the traditional paddle wheel) which made it a revolutionary design. As such, she was a stand out and a keystone ocean liner, and among the first of the transatlantic liners.
