When Will Cruising Start? | First Australian Cruise 2021

For many of us, we enjoy having something to look forward to, and a cruise is a perfect thing to have in the pipeline. Something to wait for, and to enjoy as it approaches. So, when can we finally get back to cruising? Overseas, there has been a lot more action with regards to cruising and its restart than there has here in Australia. Having said that, 2021 is looking like it might be a much better year than 2020 (hopefully these don't become famous last words...) Australia is uniquely positioned when it comes to travel and cruising in particular. It's not inconceivable to imagine cruising restarting in a domestic capacity, with cruises to nowhere even thrown in the mix. Of course, abiding by best practices with respect to the virus will be paramount to getting anything happening again - but can it be done? With the proper planning, I would love to see a cruise line like P&O recommence cruising from Australia sooner rather than later. Bring the ship down, test and quarantine all shipboard staff for an appropriate time and then get passengers on, in a safe environment, to cruise and enjoy shipboard life. Certainly, this isn't for everyone - I know that. Many of my clients have booked cruises for late 2021/2022, and this is proving popular which shows that the passion for travel by ship is still most definitely around. I would be happy to jump on a cruise much earlier than that, knowing that proper precautions had been taken, and that Australia is itself, quite a protected geographical continent with respect to borders and virus containment. I think it could work, and I hope that it does! So, when will cruising start? Well, the earliest Australian scheduled departure onboard P&O is the Pacific Adventure maiden sailing from Sydney on April 30, 2021. I intend to be onboard!
