🎈 Hot Air Ballooning in Luxor – The View Even the Pharaohs Never Had The pharaohs built tombs fit for gods, but even with all their gold and power, there’s one thing they never got to do—see their kingdom from the sky. No pyramid penthouse, no rooftop terraces. But today? You can float above it all at sunrise, watching history unfold beneath your feet. 🌊 As the balloon rises, you can see the Nile slicing through the landscape like a ribbon of liquid gold, a narrow strip of green on either side before it's endless desert. This one view explains thousands of years of civilisation - as those who controlled the Nile, controlled life. 🏺 Below, the Temple of Hatshepsut stands regal and immovable, its geometric lines carved straight into the cliffs. This was the domain of Egypt’s most powerful female pharaoh, a statement ahead of the Valley of the Kings. 🌄 Further out, the Valley of the Kings itself hides in the morning shadows, its tombs still keeping their secrets. This is where Tutankhamun, Ramses, and the great rulers of Egypt were laid to rest, together with unimaginable treasure. Earlier pharaohs were buried within the great pyramids near Cairo. But as grave robbers grew bolder, pharaohs moved their resting places to this hidden ridge of desert. From the air, it makes sense. All you can see is just whispers of the past drifting through the hills. 🏜️ Beyond the temples, the desert stretches endlessly, its soft dunes blurring into the horizon. And for a moment, it’s just you, the sky, and the rising sun painting everything in shades of gold and amber. 🎟️ Bonus tip: The best time to go? At sunrise, when the air is cool, the light is magic, and the sky is filled with dozens of colourful balloons. It’s a surreal, slightly chaotic, completely unforgettable way to start the day. I travelled with Viking Cruises [Ad] as part of their stunning Pharaohs and Pyramids Itinerary. Would you dare to take a ride in a hot air balloon?
