Fly in the day before. Cruise lines won't wait if your flight's delayed, and it's not worth the stress of racing to the port.

Buy faster to the fun pass on Carnival or the equivalent for your cruise line. It gives you priority boarding so you can check out the ship before it's crowded and start your vacation early.

Don't sit on the railing, not even for a cute picture. You can get kicked off the ship and sometimes banned for breaking safety rules.

Check in early. Do it as soon as it opens, usually about 2 weeks before your cruise.
