Wednesday May 2nd saw four cruise ships moored in Southampton Docks on what was an overcast, but dry day. The four ships in port included... - P&O Cruises's "Adonia" (who will have been with the fleet for almost a year now) docked in the QEII Terminal. - Cunard's "Queen Elizabeth" returned after a short cruise that began on Friday 27th April (see separate video) and was once again in the Ocean Terminal. - Royal Caribbean International's "Independence of the Seas" was at her usual mooring at the 'City' Cruise Terminal. - And lastly, Princess Cruises's "Grand Princess" was in the 'Mayflower' Cruise Terminal. The departures began just after 16:00 hours. "Adonia" was the first to set sail reversing around beyond the 'QEII' Terminal and turning before heading down Southampton Water. At around the same time, "Grand Princess" also departed from the 'Mayflower' Terminal and had to turn around in the Upper Turning Circle before sailing back down past "Independence of the Seas", the Town Quay and "Queen Elizabeth". "Independence of the Seas" slipped her moorings shortly after "Grand Princess" had passed and sounded her departure horn at the same moment that "Queen Elizabeth" and "Grand Princess" were saluting each other. Finally, "Queen Elizabeth" departed after "Independence of the Seas" had passed.
