Following the final departure of "Independence of the Seas" from Southampton on Saturday 1st November 2014, two more Royal Caribbean International vessels bid farewell on Sunday 2nd November. The first of the two ships to leave was "Adventure of the Seas" from the 'QEII' Terminal at around 16:30 heading across the Atlantic Ocean to Porto Rico in the Caribbean. She has been a regular caller in Southampton for the past two years and will be replaced in 2015 by "Explorer of the Seas". The second ship to depart was the brand-new "Quantum of the Seas" making its maiden passenger-carrying voyage from Southampton to New York. Originally due to depart from the 'City' Terminal at 17:00, she was delayed and word spread she was to not sail until 19:00. However, she slipped her moorings and departed at 18:00. She is not due to return to Southampton, although her sister ship "Anthem of the Seas" will be based in Southampton in 2015 as a replacement for "Independence of the Seas". Viewed from Town Quay.
