I was really excited though for this next part of the trip. There's some really great stuff coming up.

It's a very special treat to sail under some of the bridges.

I love being able to have that big green lawn and do a lot of gardening with very inexpensive Columbia River water.

If you're a wine lover, you're definitely going to want to book this excursion.

YouTube Video Description

In this video you'll see American Cruise Lines' newest ship, American Encore, on the second day of her east-to-west trip down the Snake River and the Columbia River. Today the ship is visiting the Tri Cities of southeastern Washington: Richland, Kennewick, and Pasco. The cruise in to the Tri Cities is beautiful, but you have to get up early to see it all! If you sleep in until 7 AM, you'll miss seeing the ship sail through the last of four dams along the Snake River, and sail under five different bridges on the way to her dock in Richland. As the ship sails up the Columbia River in to Richland, I tell you about each of the bridges she sails under and I point out an expensive piece of machinery along the river that has a highly unusual back story. The Columbia River, the Snake River, and the Yakima River all converge in the Tri Cities to create one huge river that in the Spring can flow at a rate of over 100 million gallons per minute! With that much water flowing through, it's great for local homeowners who like to have big green lawns and large gardens. Water for irrigation is so abundant, it's not even metered! While the ship is docked in Richland for the day, it offers the passengers the opportunity to go out on excursions to interesting places in the area. I chose to go on a morning excursion where you learn about the Tri Cities involvement with all things nuclear, and an afternoon excursion to a local winery for some wine tasting. This is episode #2 of a series of videos about my 7-day cruise on American Encore. Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel (it's free) so that when the next few episodes are released, YouTube will recommend them to you. If you're interested in booking a cruise with American Cruise Lines, I'd like to suggest that you use my travel agent, Caitlin Gallagher. She's an expert on American Cruise Lines, and can help you arrange flights, extra nights in hotels at the beginning and/or end of the cruise, and arrange for private transportation for you. Her services don't cost you anything at all, she is paid by the cruise lines. For the next few weeks, new episodes of this series of videos will be released on Saturday mornings... until I've fully covered the story of the entire cruise.
