The Quantum Class of ships brought a variety of innovative first to the high seas. The most noticeable of which is the North Star, a large crane mounted on top of the ship to provide elevated views out over the islands and seas. With every new innovation comes a lot of planning and testing though. This is no different for the North Star. Being at sea you can't just call the fire department to rescue people if it gets stuck. So instead they developed a zipline system allowing guests to slowly descend to the roof of the indoor pool from what ever height and location the North Star may be at when it gets stuck. They've never had to use it with actual passengers yet, but the crew must still know how to use it and what it feels like in case the time were to arrive. On May 9th, 2018 while docked in Labadee Haiti the sports staff conducted one of their monthly drills to go through how to evacuate guests from the North Star. Itinerary: Day 1: Bayonne, NJ (5/3/18 from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM) Day 2: Day at Sea (5/4/18) Day 3: Kings Wharf, Bermuda (5/5/18 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM) Day 4: Day at Sea (5/6/18) Day 5: Philipsburg, St. Maarten (5/7/18 from 12:15 PM to 8:00 PM) Day 6: San Juan, Puerto Rico (5/8/18 from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM) Day 7: Labadee, Haiti (5/9/18 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) Day 8: Day at Sea (5/10/18) Day 9: Day at Sea (5/11/18) Day 10: Bayonne, NJ (5/12/18)
