Creator's Key Takeaways

as much as I hate to see this beautiful ship destroyed I have to say that the lind operation is quite impressive

they've done everything by the book with the toxic material remediation

it's really a shame that the city of Stockton's been so secretive about this entire process

pretty soon this little beauty will just be a memory

About our Bacon Score methodology
YouTube Video Description

The 1955-built AURORA is vanishing quickly. In just a matter of days, almost half of the ship is now gone. This footage was shot on March 11, 12 and 13 by Captain Corey Abelove and shows the ship'f forward superstructure vanish almost all the way back to her streamlined funnel. The work is being done at Mare Island, California by Lind Marine and looks as though it will be finished in a matter of weeks. This historic ship was originally the WAPPEN VON HAMBURG and has had a colorful history that sadly came to an end this year, her 70th, which is a remarkable life for any ship.
