Day 1 Carnival Freedom Transatlantic Cruise Boarding Process, Embarkation & Day 1 Activities. We are embarking on a 300 plus Land & Sea Journey and part of our journey is on the Carnival Freedom. This ship will be taking us to Barcelona, Spain as we tour southern Europe. We got lucky to get on this off-season transatlantic cruise. The cruise lines don’t typically reposition to Europe this time of the year. The Carnival Freedom is heading to Barcelona, Spain to be dry docked for 21 days and will be heading back to Port Canaveral once the maintenance and funnel repair is completed.
