City of Rotterdam - EMC Nissan Car Carrier Southampton 1/8/17

The EMC (Euro Marine Car Carrier) Nissan Car Carrier arrived in Southampton early this morning 1st August 2017 from Le Havre in France & departed again from berth 105 at 11:53am next port call of Santander in Spain. She was assisted by the tug Lomax which is usually based at Fawley Oil Refinery. The morning was very very windy yet again here in Southampton as per usual. I have never ever seen this carrier here before and cannot recall it ever calling at Southampton, she was built in 2011 for Nissan Cars and can carry about 2,000 cars. On 3 December 2015 City of Rotterdam collided with the Danish registered ro-ro ferry Primula Seaways on the River Humber. Both vessels were damaged but made their way to Immingham under their own power without any help. She was designed with a sleek semi-spherical prow to reduce wind resistance.
