It’s Day 19 of our Hawaii–Pacific Northwest Cruise Vlog, and today brought a difficult turn in our journey. We’re in Vancouver, BC, where our two-day add-on cruise was scheduled to begin — sailing from Vancouver to Seattle and back again. However, my travel companion has tested positive for COVID onboard. After spending 19 days at sea, we’ve made the decision to request disembarkation in Seattle so we can get home safely with the help of a friend. In this vlog, I talk about what it’s like to face uncertainty at the end of a long voyage, how the ship and crew are handling the situation, and what it feels like to wrap up a cruise earlier than planned — after building friendships with fellow passengers and staff along the way.
