Positive Coronavirus cases have been found on multiple cruise ships in the last week. This is definitely not the news that the cruise industry needed, we were very hopeful about the return to cruising but this has definitely felt like one step forward, three steps back. What makes it worse is that some of the cases may have been made by mistakes made by the cruise line and if the processes were followed this may not have happened at all. Current Coronavirus count - (There have been more cases than this but these were discussed in this video): Hurtigruten (36 Crew, 16 Passengers) Paul Gauguin (1 Crew) Mein Schiff 1 (5 Crew) Sea Dream (1 Crew) The first cruise line to try and cruise again was Hurtigruten. They set off on a 7-night cruise around Norway and when they returned four of the cruise members were hospitalised with Coronavirus symptoms. It’s unclear if they were hospitalised because they were unwell or just to quarantine but since this has happened the total of cases within the crew has risen to 36, 33 of them are from the Philippines. Hurtigruten has admitted to making mistakes and investigations are still ongoing. The crew members were tested before they left their home countries then were tested again before embarking the ship. The crew members that were found to have coronavirus were from Germany, France, and the Philippines and the problem was that the crew members from the Philippines weren’t quarantined on land before boarding the ship. They flew into Norway and headed straight on the ship. This isn’t Hurtigrutens procedures, those crew members should have been quarantined for 10 days before being allowed to board. This puts the crew into an incredibly difficult situation. They need to work to make money and support their families but in this situation have potentially put their lives in danger doing so. ▶ SUBSCRIBE or weekly cruise tips, tours and news: https://bit.ly/34ltwZi ▶ FREE TRAINING: Want to learn how to cruise well on a budget? https://bit.ly/31vGORb ▶ JOIN THIS CHANNEL: https://bit.ly/3kmSZan ▶ BOOKING A CRUISE?
