Just under a year ago I took a cruise on the River Thames aboard the preserved Steam-Tug "Portwey" on a 2-hour cruise from Masthouse Pier on the Isle of Dogs up to Tower Bridge and then towards The O2 Arena. This year on Sunday 16th July 2017, I took a second cruise aboard the tug, this time starting from Hermitage Pier near Tower Bridge for a 2-hour cruise that ended at Masthouse Pier. This time we were able to do a little bit more than before, which included at the request of my Dad to go under Tower Bridge. However, the tug was too tall to fit under and also too small for it to be worth raising the bridge, so the crew lowered the mast and funnel to enable us to pass underneath twice. Additionally we also went up towards the Thames Barrier. Another fantastic cruise aboard "Portwey" and will definitely go on her again.
