YouTube Video Description

I've just come back from a Sea of Japan and Gion Festival 9-night cruise on Diamond Princess, Princess Cruises dedicated Japan cruise ship. This video offers a whole ship tour of the Diamond Princess cruise ship, looking at its four swimming pools, the entertainment, the golf, table tennis, the food, the wraparound promenade deck and the scheduled activities on board, which include a lot of Japanese-focused activities like learning how to wear a Yukata and learning Japanese. It shows the sailaway from Yokohama (the port used from Tokyo). Diamond Princess isn't exactly the same as most other Western Cruise ships - there is a difference, with subtle Japanese touches, like green tea everywhere, green tea ice-cream. a ramen station in the buffet as well as a make-your-own-sushi area in the buffet. The ship even has its own traditional 'onsen' - onsen are Japanese hot springs. You have to be naked to go into them. The ship also has a fantastic specialty sushi restaurant Kai Sushi (included in the film) which was superb. But don't worry, there's plenty of Western food too if Japanese food isn't for you. I personally LOVE Japanese food. The video also looks at the atrium on the ship where there's always some excellent live music. The video also has a brief look at some of the things I did OFF the ship, from soaking in an amazing rural Japanese onsen, to cycling in Sakaiminato to looking at a street dedicated to manga to eating out to being in the city of Kyoto the same day as Gion Festival took place in July (it's Japan's biggest festival) which involved a grand procession of massive, intricately-designed floats which was really quite something. I also try some sake and the video ends by taking a look at some of the shows on board.
