Part One of the ISLAND PRINCESS story features the ship in her latter Princess Cruises days during one of her final visits to her former home port of Los Angeles. She would soon be deployed on far flung and exotic itineraries before being sold to Hyundai in 1999 and eventually Voyages of Discovery, for whom she would sail as the DISCOVERY until being scrapped in 2014. The ISLAND PRINCESS was the βotherβ Love Boat, the virtual twin of the featured PACIFIC PRINCESS and used as the floating set for the television show when the PACIFIC was not available. Designed by Robert Tillberg, she was a sleek and innovative cruise ship that was considered one of the finest of her generation.
