Classic fittings rescued from Carnival's first two ships, the MARDI GRAS (ex EMPRESS OF CANADA) and CARNIVALE (ex EMPRESS OF BRITAIN) will return to sea in the Golden Jubilee Lounge and adjacent promenade aboard the soon-to-be-delivered CARNIVAL CELEBRATION. A huge mahogany, brass and etched glass wall from the MARDI GRAS will join a brass and etched glass set of doors, a brass Chadburn bridge wing telegraph, various etched glass panels and more from the CARNIVALE in the forthcoming lounge, which will be a celebration of Carnival's 50 years of service. This video captures Carnival's press conference at SeaTrade in Miami where the news was revealed by Carnival President Christine Duffy and Carnival's Director of Newbuilds and Product Development, Glenn Aprile. The video also gives a brief history of the two ships, including footage of them at the Indian scrapyard where Peter Knego rescued these fittings and many more treasures. It also follows some of the key artifacts from their early years to their removal and subsequent story until being purchased by Carnival in 2018. #carnivalcruises #goldenjubilee #carnivalcelebration #mardigras #carnivale #classicships #oceanliners #olympic #thetopaz #alang #shipbreakers #epirotikilines #royalolympiccruises #peaceboat #thomsoncruises #lamodernism #offthewallantiques
