One of the railway's that I have wanted to do a gala at was the Great Central Railway. My chance finally came for the 'Winter Steam Gala' held over the weekend on January 24th-26th 2014 when I visited on Saturday 25th. Locomotives that featured at the Gala were... - GWR 5600-class 0-6-2T No.5643 (visiting from the Furness Railway Trust) - BR 9F-class 2-10-0 No.92214 "Cock o' the North" (initially visiting from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway but has now become a resident following the gala) - BR 'Britannia'-class 4-6-2 No.70013 "Oliver Cromwell" - BR 'Standard 2'-class 2-6-0 No.78019 - BR(M) 'Ivatt' 2MT-class 2-6-0 No.46521 - LMSR 3F-class 'Jinty' 0-6-0T No.47406 - LMSR 8F-class 2-8-0 No.48624 - SR N15-class 'King Arthur' 4-6-0 No.777 "Sir Lamiel" - GNR N2-class 0-6-2T No.1744 - BR Class 127 DMU Nos.M51616 "Alf Benny" & M51622 Originally booked to appear at the event was 'Austerity' 0-6-0ST No.22 from the Nene Valley Railway, but unfortunately had failed just before the event so was unable to take part. The event featured two full-length passenger trains, a Local service & DMU, a freight train, a Mineral Train and Traveling Post Office demonstrations.
