Independence of the Seas: 2012 Transatlantic Day 6 - Ponta Delgada, Azores: Island & Departure

As first specs of morning light broke through the rains on Tuesday November 27th 2012 they revealed the mountains of the Azores Islands rising from the North Atlantic. As the sun rose it created a rainbow of colors amid the patches of mist that scattered the mountains. The overcast and rainy conditions made viewing the famous blue and green lakes impossible as both just looked green. It did lead to some of the most incredible single, double, and even triple rainbows over lush green rolling hills. At the end of the day as the Independence of the Seas finally made her way out of port the pilot was unloaded and she set course toward Nassau. As she was making her way through the maze of fishing boats she suddenly stopped and drifted for about 30 minutes as the pilot made it's way back to unload another individual before setting sail once again.
