YouTube Video Description

Another busy day in Southampton Docks with four cruise ships in port on Saturday 24th August 2013. One ship: Semester at Sea's MV "Explorer" had arrived on Thursday 22nd at the end of her summer voyage. She was docked at the 'QEII' Terminal and ready to embark on her Autumn voyage which was also the SaS's 50th Anniversary sailing. Another rare visitor was The Yachts of Seabourn's "Seabourn Sojourn" making a return visit (her last being September 2012) was docked at the 'Ocean' Terminal. The other two ships were regular callers: Royal Caribbean International's "Independence of the Seas" at the 'City' Terminal & P&O Cruises "Aurora" at the 'Mayflower' Terminal. The first ship to get underway was "Independence of the Seas" at 16:29 heading for Vigo, Spain. "Aurora" was the second to get moving at 16:44, but she had to go up to the Upper Swinging Ground before she could sail off to Stavanger, Norway. This allowed MV "Explorer" (with assistance from the tug "Wyestorm") to depart at around 16:55 and reverse round into the River Itchen to turn before heading off to St. Petersburg, Russia before "Aurora" followed on behind. "Seabourn Sojourn" was due to depart at 18:00 but left ten minutes early at 17:50. Her destination was St. Peter Port, Guernsey. Viewed from Hythe Marina, this video also features the cargo ship "Normed Antwerpen" & Ro/Ro ship "Canadian Highway".
