Both ships were designed specifically for transiting the Panama Canal, known as Panamax ships, and were off on their maiden voyages in 2003. With the departure of the Sea Princess, Sun Princess and Pacific Princess, the Coral Class (ex) twins are now the babies in the fleet. When launched, each ship offered one of the best passenger space ratios afloat, with all of the Princess fan-favourite facilities. In 2015 however, Princess made some drastic changes to the Island Princess and these sister ships are no longer twins. Island Princess' aft was completely closed in, with a combination of the removal of public spaces and addition of over 100 cabins changing the onboard experience forever. Watch the video to learn more about the changes, and what the resultant impact is on the onboard experience. Have you sailed on Coral Princess or Island Princess?
