Little & Large Locomotives at the Eastleigh Lakeside Railway - 23/01/2022

What started as a one-train service on the Eastleigh Lakeside Railway on Sunday 23rd January 2022 became a two-train one with a top-n-tailed Shuttle service joining the Main Service. The shuttle ran in and out of Platform 3 and was done like like this because the locomotives running it were both 7-1/4 inch gauge, and at present part of that rail is missing on the final climb into Eastleigh Parkway. The two locomotives running the shuttle were owned by people associated with the now closed Amnerfield Miniature Railway: BR 'Britannia'-class 4-6-2 No.70025 "Western Star" & LMSR 'Black 5'-class 4-6-0 No.45440. The latter has visited many times before whereas the 'Britannia' was making its first visit. The main service of the day was handled by 1000-class 'Bullock' 4-6-2 No.1002 "The Empress".
