Little Petra, smaller sibling to the world-famous lost city of Petra but part of it's UNESCO World Heritage status, is, according to historians, a suburb of the Nabatean capital city of Petra. They believe this area was used to feed and house traders from the Silk Road. It is much smaller and was considerably less crowded when we visited, making it easier to get closer to the buildings built into the sandstone. It is known for its triclinium, or three-sided couch room that were used as dining halls, kitchens, and biclinium with its painted fresco on the roof, a rare find. We had a chance to go up steps to see the frescos up close. The buildings carved into the rock are incredible and I felt this gave a real feeling for the every day life of the Nabateans. It is about 10 minutes from Wadi Musa, the home of Petra, and free to visit. On our way back to Wadi Musa, we saw a donkey goats, camels and.a hot air balloon. #jordan #travel #jordantravel #history #littlepetra #nabatean #petra #worldheritagesite #worldcruise Chapters 00:00 Introduction 00:24 Entering Little Petra 00:39 Tomb Cut Into the Rock 01:30 The Siq 02:23 Little Petra 02:45 Water Collection 03:17 Ktichens 03:57 Triclinium 05:34 Dining or Banqueting Halls 05:59 Painted Biclinium 06:33 Around Little Petra 07:49 Leaving Little Petra 09:03 Donkey, Goats Camels 10:37 Elephant Rock 11:00 Another Video You May Like!
