Mid-Hants Railway 'AUTUMN STEAM SPECTACULAR' - 2014

The Mid-Hants Railway's 'AUTUMN STEAM GALA' was held on October 24th-26th 2014. The theme for this year's event was the Great Western Railway and featured four visiting locomotives from this region joining three members of the Home Fleet. The full locomotive line was as follows... - GWR 1400-class 0-4-2T No.1450 & Autocoach No.W238W "Chaffinch" (visiting from the Severn Valley Railway). - GWR 4073-class 'Castle' 4-6-0 No.5029 "Nunney Castle" (visiting between Main Line duties). - GWR 4200-class 2-8-0T No.4270 (visiting from the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway), - GWR 6959-class 'Modified Hall' 4-6-0 No.6960 "Raveningham Hall" (visiting from the West Somerset Railway). - SR LN-class 'Lord Nelson' 4-6-0 No.E850 "Lord Nelson". - LMSR 'Black 5'-class 4-6-0 No.45379. - BR 9F-class 2-10-0 No.92212. - SR V-class 'Schools' 4-4-0 No.925 "Cheltenham" was the Reserve Locomotive for the event. Unfortunately, there had been two additional locomotives in the original line-up with had to be withdrawn in the weeks leading up to the event. These were GWR 7800-class 'Manor' 4-6-0 No.7812 "Erlestoke Manor" (also from the Severn Valley Railway) was needed at its home base whilst BR 'Britannia'-class 4-6-2 No.70000 "Britannia" is still standing idle in the yard at Ropley due to its axle problems.
