Odyssey of the Seas: Ft. Lauderdale Medical Evacuation on April 9th, 2022

On April 9th the Odyssey of the Seas set sail on an 8 night Southern Caribbean sailing. Originally scheduled to make a lap around the caribbean with a stop in Grand Cayman, covid restrictions led to several itinerary changes. Sailing round trip from Ft. Lauderdale she made stops in Willemstad Curaçao and Oranjestad Aruba as originally scheduled, as well as the addition of CocoCay in the Bahamas. The Odyssey of the Seas departed Terminal 18 at 5PM to make her way to CocoCay in the Bahamas. With a short distance to travel and all night to do so she was traveling at a slow pace when an onboard medical emergency occurred with an alpha call over the PA system. A short time later at about 7:30 Captain Sindre made a ship wide announcement that the Odyssey of the Seas was turning around and would be sailing full speed back to Ft. Lauderdale to debark a few individuals needing more medical care than could be offered onboard. At 8:30 the pilot rebounded the ship, 3 hours after he departed it. We made our way into the port at about 9:00 tying off along side Terminal 21 about 9:15 pm. A fire truck, ambulances, and other emergency personal arrived as the Odyssey of the Seas was docking and worked to remove the passengers by stretcher to take them to a shore side hospital. We then set sail once more at about 9:45, reaching the ocean for the second time just after 10:00 PM. The Tortuga Music Festival was scheduled to end at 10 PM leading to increased traffic entering the port as the Odyssey of the Seas was making her way out. Despite the return to Port Everglades she still made it to her next destination of CocoCay in the Bahamas on time the next morning, This video was filmed on 4/9/2022 while returning to Port Everglades for a medical evacuation. 8 Night April 9th, 2022 Southern Caribbean Sailing Itinerary: Day 1: Ft.
