This was our first time experiencing a river cruise, and from the moment we stepped onboard, we were hooked! Our journey began at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 2, where we boarded a short 55-minute EuroWings flight (operated by Baltic Air) to Düsseldorf. It was a small Airbus 220, and you could really feel every twist and turn – a bit bumpy at times but all part of the adventure! From Düsseldorf Airport, it was just a quick 15-minute Uber to the dock, where VIVA ONE was waiting for us. Check-in was smooth and welcoming – the staff took our luggage straight to our cabin while we soaked up the modern, airy vibe of the ship. It was clear right away: river cruising with VIVA Cruises was going to be something special. After settling into our cabin, we made our way to the lounge for the welcome meeting. The captain and crew greeted us with a warm smile, a few cocktails, and some tasty light bites. One of the great perks of sailing with VIVA Cruises is their all-inclusive offering – cocktails, wines, beers, spirits, and soft drinks are all included, and trust us, we never went thirsty! Dinner in the Riverside Restaurant was an absolute delight. The service was top-notch – the team made sure our glasses were full and our plates were spot on. Every course felt thoughtfully prepared, and the whole dining experience really set the tone for the cruise. We wrapped up our first evening on the sun deck, cocktail in hand, getting to know the other guests on this press trip. Watching the sun dip below the horizon over the Rhine River was a real pinch-me moment.
