Ovation of the Seas: Skagway Arrival & Departure on May 20th, 2019

On May 20th the Ovation of the Seas made her inaugural visit to Skagway Alaska. Arriving early in the morning the Celebrity Millennium was already docked directly in front of her. Upon docking the Ovation of the Seas was met the challenge of a new pier and finding out how to get guests ashore. The extreme tides in Alaska require unique docks that can rise and fall with the tides and ships. Upon her arrival the tides were at an extreme low causing for a steep incline up to the main pier until a secondary gangway could be setup. By the afternoon the tides had risen so that the pier was almost flat to the gangway. In the evening the Ovation of the Seas was the first ship to depart followed by the Celebrity Millennium behind her.
