On July 15 2014, Regent Seven Seas Cruises Celebrated the cut of the first piece of steel on its newest luxury cruise ship, Seven Seas Explorer. She will be 54,000 gross tons and will carry just 750 guests, allowing for what the line says will be the highest space ratios and staff-to-guest ratios in the cruise industry. She will also be the most expensive luxury cruise ship ever built at a cost of $450-million. The ceremony took place at the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa, Italy. Master sommelier Michela Cimatoribus released the cork from a magnum of Krug Grande CuvΓ©e, initiating a laser, which cut the ceremonial first piece of steel for the new ship. Shortly after, Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, Archbishop of Genoa blessed the piece of metal. In this video, we celebrate this incredible milestone for Regent Seven Seas, as it is the lines first new vessel in ten years. Kunal S Kamlani, President Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Garbiele Cocco, Executive Senior Vice President, Fincantieri Merchant Vessels, discuss what we can expect from Seven Seas Explorer when she joins the fleet in summer 2016. Seven Seas Explorer will offer all-suite accommodation across 369 separate suites, which will range from 300 to 1,500 square feet. She will also offer guest's six open-seating gourmet restaurants, the world famous Canyon Ranch SpaClub and a very impressive two-story theatre. The Cruise Line UK will begin taking reservations for the maiden voyage and inaugural season for Seven Seas Explorer in early 2015, however, you can register your interest with us today by calling one of our Cruise Experts on 0800 008 6677.
