While sailing into the Suez Canal aboard Emerald Cruises EMERALD AZZURRA on March 22, 2022, Peter Knego spotted the scrapbound PHOENIX TITAN awaiting orders for her next destination, which by all accounts will be a South Asian scrapyard. Built in 1975 as the Soviet cruise ferry GRUZIYA, the ship has also sailed under the names ODESSA SKY, VAN GOGH and CLUB I. Her final active incarnation was as Salamis Lines SALAMIS FILOXENIA. The Cyprus-based company suspended its services in 2022 and the ship was sold to a scrap broker who renamed her PHOENIX TITAN for her final voyage. #scrapships #sovietcruiseships #classiccruiseships #oldships #salamislines #salamisfiloxenia #gruziya #club1 #vangoghship
