Creator's Key Takeaways
Our excursion information described Kmar as a canal lined medieval gem. They could not be more correct.
This place was Disney in real life. Many people think it was the inspiration for Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
I have no doubt Disney Imagineers visited Kmar too. It is gorgeous with medieval lanes and squares and its little Venice area with the canals that reflect the incredible mix of French and German Renaissance architecture.
I'm guessing you can tell I loved Kmar. I was also surprised at the number of storks and stork nests.

Colmar, France is a canal-lined medieval gem in the Alsace region. It is stunning and considered by some to be the setting for Disney's Beauty and the Beast, even though one or two other villages actually hold that distinction. I have no doubt though, that Disney Imagineers walked through Colmar, I felt like I was in a Disney movie. It is gorgeous with its Little Venice canals that reflect traditional Alsace architecture. Wandering down its 9th century lanes and through its squares, each building is a surprise. There are traditional houses, buildings with ornate decorations and 13th century gothic cathedrals. The original old town charms with its beauty. We took a small tourist train ride through the town and then walked with a guide to Little Venice and I loved every minute! I was also amazed at the number of storks and stork nests. Alsace is a breeding area for storks and I think it was my first time seeing them in the wild. #travel #europe #rhineriver #history #tourist #rivercruise #france #colmar #colmarfrance #disneyvillage #littlevenice #alsace #storks #alsacearchitechture #gothicchurch Music from Bensound.com and YouTube Audio Library Chapters 00:00 Introduction 00:11 Tourist Train Ride 07:02 Walking Tour to Little Venice 08:16 St Martin's Church 09:19 Walking Tour Continues 10:32 Little Venice 11:46 Gorgeous Buildings 13:08 Maison Pfister Decorated House 13:57 Storks
