Marriott Bonvoy just made a major change to how Free Night Award certificates work — and it could make them much more useful. Members can now top off their Marriott free night certificates with up to 25,000 additional points, up from the previous 15,000-point limit. This means certificates earned through credit cards, promotions, or elite benefits can now unlock significantly more expensive hotels.  For example, a 50,000-point free night certificate could now book hotels costing up to 75,000 points, assuming you add the extra points from your account.
