Creator's Key Takeaways

Frankly, I worried this museum might be a bit of a snoozer, but it was fascinating and beautiful.

With limited time, I think these two places were a fantastic choice.

Our final stop in the old city was the Casad Aliaga or Aliyaga House, which has been passed down by a noble family for generations.

The next morning, after eating breakfast at the hotel, our small group met a guide in the lobby at 9:30 a.m.

With only a day to explore Lima before joining a National Geographic/Lindblad Expedition, I signed on to a group tour of the historic center and the Museo Larco. Our first stop was the Historic Center, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The cobblestone streets and numerous buildings of Spanish colonial architecture, with the intricately carved balconies, created a very charming old town. We visited several sites, including the presidential palace and the Plaza de Armas. Then finished our exploration in the Casa de Aliago, a gorgeous home of a noble family that has been passed down for generations. After visiting the historic centre, we drove to the Museo Larco, which has an extensive collection of pre-Columbian artifacts. It was a fascinating museum and I was happy to have the guide point out all of its intriguing artifacts. We finished our day with a late lunch at the museum's restaurant, which is in a very picturesque setting. @seniorsolotravel Facebook Travel Forum: https://www.facebook.com/groups/443309331791413 Senior Solo Travel Website: https://www.seniorsolotravel.net/ Machu Picchu-Galapagos Videos: 24 hrs in Lima: https://youtu.be/ycMXXNHU4WU Ollantaytambo: https://youtu.be/Ws_tENjXKtY Machu Picchu: https://youtu.be/8yPDoIGK3Xs Nat Geo Islander II Ship Overview: https://youtu.be/AZNIaLqMFqo Quito: https://youtu.be/wX3V0gNzJzA Snorkeling in the Galapagos: https://youtu.be/DZZUpxEF-hk Kayaking in the Galapagos: https://youtu.be/rWVxLajYkWo Peru & Galapagos Escape: https://youtu.be/-X0JSwHVV7k
