Creator's Key Takeaways
I transited through the canal as part of a Winstar cruise and it was spectacular.
I spent a full day there and would highly recommend it.
I'd never seen this at a museum before, and loved that after viewing the displays, you had a resource if you had further inquiries.
I would recommend renting from the Panama side and dropping the bike off on the islands.

After spending two days in Panama City, there are five things I would recommend seeing and doing. Of course, seeing the Panama Canal is top of the list. It is an amazing experience and you don't need to see it by ship. You can visit the Miraflores Visitors Center, which is only a 20 min drive from Panama City. Casco Viejo (also known as San Felipe and Casco Antiguo) is Panama City's historic old town. It is a beautifully preserved area that is a treat for visitors. For me, it was my favorite place I visited besides the canal. The Frank Gehry designed Bio Museum (Biomuseo) is also fascinating for both its architecture and content. Cintra Costera is very long park/green space where you have great views along the coastline. And finally, biking the Calcada de Amadora is a wonderful way to get some exercise while enjoying spectacular views of the harbor, Gulf of Panama, and even the Bridge of the Americas.
